Different Options for Construction Site Erosion Control

Erosion control remediation services can vary by landscape, goal of the project, and timeline. Seeding, silt fencing, straw roll installation, and tree protection fencing are among the erosion control options offered at Fall Line Construction. Allow us to explain how each option can benefit your construction site:

Erosion Control Option: Seeding

Plants act as natural deterrent against erosion. Upon seeding, the plants will begin to set their roots firmly into the soil. This accomplishes many beneficial things – (1) the roots act as thick walls which forces water to slow down, (2) the soil will not be so susceptible to water due to the root system clinging to the soil, and (3) plants – once blossomed – act as an umbrella to the loose soil below when it rains.

Erosion Control Option: Silt Fencing

It is common for soil to be disturbed on a construction site. However, the amount of disturbance can be managed. Silt fencing, also known as filter fencing, acts as a perimeter control. Silt fencing will keep the disturbance of soil in a set area, protecting other outside elements from soil runoff such as water sources. With the right maintenance and proper installation, silt fencing is extremely beneficial.

Erosion Control Option: Straw Roll Installation

Straw roll installation is an effective erosion control option, as it protects the soil from water and wind erosion. It also serves to protect seeding while it takes root. These rolls are biodegradable and an environmentally friendly option to protect the soil.

Erosion Control Option: Tree Protection Fencing

A tree protection fence is a construction site barrier that outlines nature that can and cannot be touched. This fence will protect trees that is not supposed to be removed during the construction process.
